One of your more important lyrical references is completely mangled. The relevant verse on “Bad Romance,” as transcribed directly from the lyric sheet, is: “I want your Psycho, your Vertigo schtick. Want you in my Rear Window, baby, you’re sick.” As you can see, the whole verse is an extended Alfred Hitchcock homage, and while the “want you in my room while your baby is sick” line is a common mistranscription on lyrics websites, it’s incorrect.

“GA GA OOH LA LA!” is actually one of my favorite hooks in that song. It may be a little campy, but I dig how it gives the song kind of a primeval energy, something that I think separates Lady GaGa’s music in general from Beyonce, Britney, Rihanna and all the other Top 40 stars of the moment.
